Post 100 - Woohoo!

I can't believe I've done a whole hundred posts! I've not been blogging that long but I've found some really great people via my blog, some of which have become friends and customers. Blogging rocks!

These are my new 'Hibiscus' beads. I sold a set of round beads on my site last night featuring this pattern and I wanted to try and make lentils featuring the design. So after a bit of design tweakage and many practice runs I came up with these. Quite surfy, don't you think?

They're currently on eBay UK. Please click here if you'd like to take a look at the auction.

  1. Hi Laura
    Congratulations on your 100th post.

Your new hibiscus beads are fab. Maybe one day i will be able to make something that fantastic, but at the moment i am still trying to make that perfect round bead.

I can't wait to see your demo at the flame off.

  2. Thank you Virginia!

A commonly-asked bead question is 'How long does it take you to make a bead?' and I answer 'About four years and fifteen minutes - quarter of an hour actual beadmaking and four years of practice!'. You'll get there in the end, Virginia. :o)

Demo should be fun. I'll be showing you all how I do my stringerwork.

  6. Thanks! :o)

Beth - the 'Flame Off' is a beadmaking event that is happening in April in Towcester. One day is a beadmaking day with demos by lampworkers, beadmaking contests and lampwork taster sessions and the other day is a bead fair

It's being organised by Tuffnell Glass : http://www.tuffnellglass.com/index.html?lmd=39191.564167

  12. Dude, these are bloody gorgeous! How in the name of Viggo Mortensen do you get that level of detail on them!? And the way the brown looks raised from the blue... cor.

And congrats on the 100th post, and the huge success you've made of your art... see so many sites and so many makers, and no-one makes them quite like you, you're a flaming genius (bet you haven't heard that one before...MUCH!). Keep up the fab work :)
