Following the great response to the Basic Thick Encasing tutorial I thought I'd do one on regular encasing. Chris was down here for the weekend and I asked him to do my step-by-step photos for the written tutorial and then we had the brainwave of making a little bead movie.
So, after Chris got all Spielberg he edited the footage for me and we're now pleased to present my first how-to video. It's of me showing you how I make a basic encased bead. Please excuse my burnt workbench, Hampshire accent and occasional slightly stern instructions ..... "DON'T touch the mandrel!"

Brilliant; what a great team you two make! It's always really helpful to see someone doing what you want to achieve. I have my own method that works of a fashion using a lollypop of clear glass; I end up with two small triangles that I have to fill up on the edges of the bead. This way looks quicker and cleaner so I'll be giving it a go tomorrow. I like the look of your Corina Magic Wand, I have an old knife for poking glass towards the mandrel (MUSTN'T touch it) ;-) I'm not sure I could part with it now but it does the same job!
