Catching Up

Veryan's First BeadsThere are lots of exciting things happening in my little beady world. I will try and get some 'normal' beads made today alongside glass cakes. Huge thanks to everyone who has placed Cupcake orders - your custom is much appreciated.

I've been so busy lately that I haven't had time to blog about beadmaking lessons. Well, they're still happening and last Wednesday was great. My student was Veryan Parker who is a jewellery designer. Veryan had never had a go at lampworking before and I couldn't believe how well she did. She's a bit of a natural at this beadmaking malarkey and she filled the kiln with a wodge of beads including the set (yes, an actual set) of frit beads pictured above. Veryan has blogged about her glass melting day so if you get a chance make sure you head on over to her blog where you can take a look at some more photographs of her first beads.

  11. Thank you so much, what kind comments from you all.
Janine and Aiya you made my day thinking they were Laura's - her photographs don't half make them look good :)
Joy - the bead at the end (blue?) was a bead that wouldn't play ball and go round. After talking to it for 10mins or so trying to coax it, I prodded and poked it and told it off for not going round! It's ended up a kind of sqiggly heart type blob thing :) Let's call it experimentation! x

  12. You must be a fantastic teacher Laura if your student was able to produce such lovely beads on her first try! You must be very proud of her as well, she really did a wonderful job! It is always rewarding to see a student excel!
