Boo!

I've only got a couple of these Halloweenish ghosts left now but I thought I'd show you them anyway.

The ghosts are blown hollows made in translucent white glass.

They're weighted nicely so they hang really well on a chain.

Necklace full of wish

I'm well aware that I'm not the first person to put dandelion seeds in a glass bead/globe/bottle, but it's such a lovely idea I wanted to turn some of my blown glass beads into dandelion pendants.

Hang on, I've not mentioned my blown hollow glass beads, have I? Long story short, I make them on a 3mm hollow mandrel that has an air hole in it. By building a bead up either side of the air hole I can then inflate the bead by blowing air down the mandrel. This allows me to create a nice thin, even wall and I can deflate and re-inflate until I am happy with the shape. It's a bit like blowing a glass bubble. I'll go into it in more detail some day soon.

Anyway, the 'Wishful' pendant is made from a blown hollow bead which I have filled with seeds from a dandelion clock. There are many myths and legends that surround dandelions but I think we're all familiar with the one that tells you to make a wish before blowing the seeds off a dandelion clock.

I'm not saying that this necklace will make all your wishes come true, but its delicate prettiness is sure to intrigue people.

Hollow Nuggets

I've just added a few strands of hollow nugget beads to the shop.

These lightweight lovelies would make fab chunky bracelets or eye-catching necklaces. I reckon that Wilma Flintstone would agree with me.

All but one of the strands contains graduated sizes.

They're priced at £14.00 to £15.50, are in stock and ready for posting.

They catch the light beautifully, as transparent glass always does, but the nuggets' facets seem to make them extra twinkly.

Hollow Nuggets

Hollow beads are surprisingly lightweight for their size (I wish I could say the same about me) and they are also incredibly sturdy.

I've shaped these hollows into tactile nuggety shapes. They're made from one of my favourite glasses - a beautiful lavender-rose colour. I've decorated the beads with streamers of metallic fuchsia pink.

I can just see these strung into a chunky statement necklace or maybe each one could be a pendant? Oh, I don't know - I'll leave that jewellery stuff to the professionals!
