Birthdayness

Spring Bulbs
It was my birthday yesterday and I had a lovely day.  Dad came to visit which was great ( I do miss him!) and we nipped to Homebase to spend some of my birthday money.  I bought lots of spring-flowering bulbs and some pots to plant them in.  I got tulips, daffodils, crocuses and snowdrops and if all goes according to plan the garden will get its first splash of colourful floweriness in about February.

I've gained another wonderful recipe book.  Chris gave me a copy of 'The Great British Book Of Baking' which accompanies the BBC's The Great British Bake Off.  The book is superb and I think we've decided on which recipe will be tried out first.

I received lots of cards, both paper and electronic, from my lovely customers so thank you very much to everyone who contacted me with birthday tidings.

I will do the drawing for the Lonelies giveaway either tonight or tomorrow so do check back to see if you're the winner .....

Have a fab weekend!

  2. I am so tempted to buy that book myself, but I am terrible with recipe books - I tend to drool over the pictures more than actually attempting them myself! :D

So glad to hear you had a nice birthday - I hope we get to see photos of the blooms next spring!

  5. Wonderful time of year: there you are, planting gorgeous spring bulbs and here I am planting summer bulbs and flowers for my summer coming soon! I do think that bulbs are quite the most wonderful invention - no particular attention and then the most wonderful colours and scents. My hyacinths are out so while I weed I get a drift of scent every so often. The weather is mild, even though we still have heaps of snow in the mountains a couple of hours away. I know because I go up there as often as I can over winter. My cats think that padding around in the garden while I plant and feed and weed is the business. My fingers are now officially crossed, many times over, for the draw for your divine lovelies. Just watched one of your demos again and I can't wait to get back in the studio and give the wavy line a whirl! And if I do I will certainly show you what came out. Keep on keeping on, lovely to hear (even though it is only read, it has a voice) your newsy blog. Happy Birthday for Friday, wish I could bring you and your Chris some rhubarb cake I made today. (My Chris is in the other room.) Greetings from near Canberra down under.

  10. hey gorgeous! HAPPY BIRTHDAAAAAAY!!

Birthday money spends are always more special than any other kinda spends (except wedding spends!) somehow the "love" you feel from the things you get is more than just the usual feelings of love for said items ;o)

How fab will your Spring garden look....definitely an uplifting moment at the end of a gloomy winter period.

Am loving the bake off series....most of the bakes look SO scrummy I can almost "taste" them through the tv screen, can't wait to see what you create ;o)

    Have a fab weekend

    hugs
