Beads and stuff

Lampwork Glass Beads

My goodness, last week was one of those weeks where nothing seemed to go right. Amongst other things, one of my guinea pigs, Lisa, died. She was one of the younger two and the vet and I have no idea what was wrong with her. Very sad.

But hey, I'll keep it light.

I've been having a warm indoors day today. My feet froze yesterday and the walk to and from Slimming World finished them off. I haven't been able to get my foots properly warm since! So I've been inside the house, cleaning and photographing beads and playing with Mister Nigel.

Nigel in the snow

Nigel seems to like the snow. He was a bit unsure of it at first but he keeps asking to go outside and then he runs around like a maniac for about three minutes and when I open the back door to let him in, he skids into the lounge, across the laminate floor and greets me with a "Brrrrrmmmiaaow!"

Anyway, yes, beads. I've strung and sorted the orange and pink beads at the top of this post into sets and they're on the Freshly Baked Beads page. There is also a large strand of Lonelies beads waiting for a new home as well.

And lots of you seemed to like the etched heart beads sets I made last week so I have made some of them available for ordering. There are currently five colours to choose from and each set of thirteen beads costs £20.00. All the details can be found here.

Have a super duper Tuesday evening!

'Iced Latte' & 'Dusk'

Etched Lampwork Glass Beads

I seem to be on an etched bead roll at the minute.

I just read that sentence back and I thought it said 'etched bread roll'.

I have baking on the brain at the minute.

But anyway, yes, these sets are available right now (you know where) and I reckon that these beads would make gorgeous bracelets. Or maybe necklaces. Or ... oh, I'll leave that up to you!

Nigel is 'helping' me write this post and it's getting a bit awkward so I'll say cheerio for now.

Have a nice night!

'Icicle' & 'Rose'

Lampwork Glass Beads

More pot pourri sets, this time in crystal and white and a beautiful lavender-pink. These are for sale in the usual place right now.

Thank you for all your lovely comments and emails about Nigel. We've just finished a marathon tinfoil ball-chasing session.

Nigel's taken to sleeping on my watching-telly-in-the-evenings blanket.

This is all very well and good but he won't give it back when I want a go with the blanket so I'm in the process of crocheting him one of his own.

Crochet blanket

It's turned mighty chilly here. I've fetched the guinea pigs in and they're in their indoor cage in the spare bedroom. It's turning into a proper little zoo here! I'm wondering where I can keep a goat and some chickens now ...

Enjoy your Thursday night,

'Frappuccino' & 'Apricot Jam'

Lampwork Glass Beads

I've made orange beads before. I've made light brown beads before. But it wasn't until I got these beads together whilst cleaning them that I saw how much they zing with each other. I think I'll definitely have to make a set that combines both of these shades.

Until then, these 'Frappuccino' ones ...

... and these 'Apricot Jam' ones ...

... are over on the Freshly Baked Beads page now. Both sets contain a mix of shiny and etched beads and each set contains two hearts. Lots of jewellery-making potential.

Cat + polka dots = perfect

Nigel has done much slumber today but now he's run out of sleep and he's currently tearing around the living room like a mad thing, chasing a ball. At one point he climbed halfway up the curtain. I'd forgotten just how crazy kittens can get when they have a funny fifteen minutes.

Anyway, I'm off for a cup of vanilla chai and to hook the curtains up out of harm's way ...

'Black, White & Grey'

Lampwork Glass Beads

I reckon this strand of glass beads might have been inspired by a certain cat-faced little fella ...

Thirteen classic black and white beads in a variety of different designs along with some pale grey spacer beads. This strand is available over on the Freshly Baked Beads page now.
