'Rosebud' Socks

Hand Knitted SocksThe socks that I started last week are all finished! I'm really pleased with them and the colour is great. They're knitted in Wild Fire Fibres BFL Sock in 'Cranberry'. I'd had the yarn in my stash for a while - I was just waiting for the right pattern to come along and Wendy D. Johnson's 'Rosebud' one from 'Toe-Up Socks For Every Body' was spot on.

  1. That looks a complicated pattern to knit in the round! Very pretty indeed and I adore that juicy colour!

  2. Thanks Caroline! Actually, sssshhh, but it was quite easy - it's a 24 row repeat and there are no complex stitches. It's just YOs, TBLs, decreases and increases. By the start of the second sock I'd memorised the pattern.

  3. Hi Laura,

Love the new socks! After one of your previous sock related blogs I followed the link to Wendy's website and emailed her asking for some advice on getting started with knitting socks using her method, I received a reply very quickly with some basic patterns to get my teeth into, what a lovely lady!

    Thanks again for the info.

    Best wishes,

  4. Just love the colour and texture of those socks. You are doing better than me being able to remember a 24 row repeat! I am impressed at how quickly you had them made Go Girl.
    cheers

  5. Great socks, the texture must make you want to stroke them all the time! Someone has purchased Wendy's new book from my wish list already, I just don't know who it was or when I will get it! There are a couple of family members I haven't seen since I had a birthday recently so I'm hopeful it will be soon!

  7. Lisa - Great! Wendy's patterns are amazing. She converted me to toe-up sock knitting.

Lynne - Thank you! I don't know about you but I find that 'reading' the stitches in the previous row helps you to remember the pattern.

Sue - Have you got Wendy's first book 'Socks From The Toe Up'? There's some great patterns in there.

Denise - Cheers! I like the red too. :o)
